Priorities

Fiscal Responsibility

GCISD students deserve a world-class education, and our taxpayers deserve the assurance that tax dollars are being wisely invested. Unfortunately, the District has seen multiple years of multi-million dollar budget deficits and a steadily decreasing fund balance. As a Trustee, Matt will apply an analytical and business-oriented mindset to ensure that the District’s financial resources are deployed where they’ll make the biggest difference for our students and their futures.

Respect for Educators

Our educators are what make GCISD great. Whether they’re teaching in the classroom, safely driving our students to-and-from school, leading our campuses, serving meals, or any number of the crucial tasks that serve our District, educators deserve our utmost respect. Sadly, the District’s educators most-recently received a functional pay decrease, resulting from no salary increases compounded by inflation. Furthermore, out of 52 local districts, GCISD had the second-worst increase in teacher turnover and the District’s turnover rate is worse than the state average. As a trustee, Matt will pay our dedicated professionals the respect they deserve.

Strategic Vision

We should focus on building school’s for tomorrow’s leaders, not for yesterday’s needs. As a trustee, I will invest in a strategic vision that will serve all of the District’s students and their futures—whether they choose to enter the labor market, enlist in our armed forces, or obtain further education. Tradition and innovation aren’t mutually exclusive: the best way to honor our past is to adapt our legacy to the future.
